You are MORE than welcome Doug. Your cables are easily among the best I have ever used, and to have your stuff here on our site is a huge honor.

Doug, If I may suggest, maybe here and over on Polk, you do a demo round like we did with MIT. One set of cables for people to demo, maybe a set of IC's too. Can only help I think.
That said......
I'm first on the list MF'ER !!!! WOOOOOOHOOOOOOO !!!!!

What I'd like to try is what you sent over to John. Bi-wired, nanners, 8ft.
Seriously though, we can start a thread and get a list of those willing to participate. Shipping obviously being paid by those doing the demo's in their homes. If your cables are as good as everyone says they are, this would be a good way to drum up some sales. You decide when it ends, maybe offer the demo set at a discount to members in the end. People who participate must leave reviews along with gear used in their assessments. You control the shebang, who's on the list, how much time each has to play around with them, etc.
As always.....I'M STILL FIRST ON THE LIST !!!!

Tony, I have a suggestion for Doug, but I think bi-wires if for a demo are NOT the way to go. I would say standard cables with jumpers. Currently I suggest a demo similar to the cables I have from one of his demo's elsewhere but modified a "little" bit. Obviously same rules as a CP demo roadshow and each one would have their own thread... I suggest the following demos with the following products: Demo 1 - Speaker Cables & IC's roadshow- 1 pair of 8 or 10 foot 9 gauge speaker cables. Either spades on both ends, or spades on one banana's on the other (the banana's can bend due to the cable stress)
1 set of copper silver jumpers - 1 set of straight silver jumpers
- 1 set of 1m IC's with Furez locking banana's (his stock IC offering)
- 1 set of 2m IC's with Furez locking banana's (his stock IC offering but a bit longer)
That demo should allow someone looking to dip into cables to run at min 1 source and their pre to amp connection with the cables AND a set of speakers so they are Douglass Connection all the way through. Demo 2 - Digital & Power-cable roadshow- 1 individual TBD length Coaxial Cable2 of his 3 power-cable offerings, or all 3 if he felt comfortable with that amount of product out there
- 2 of his 3 power-cable offerings, or all 3 if he felt comfortable with that amount of product out there
That demo could be split into 2 separate demo's as well.
I feel that set of demo gear out there would allow people to try out whichever specific items they want. It also puts out a bunch of different things to different people so that one person doesn't have ALL the gear at one time. Just my thoughts.....

Dan,
We have to do what Doug is comfortable with. I made the suggestion but in no way want to force the guy into putting product out there he may not want to just yet. I get it that we all have different needs too, but just to start maybe we should keep it simple because if someone likes his cables, they will definitely look further into his offerings with PC's and such. Lets make it Doug's call and use the KISS formula to start off with.

I totally agree it's all about Doug here. I just threw out the suggestion. The speaker and ic demo suggestion is based entirely off two other demos he has running at other sites. This is Doug's space and he rules it with an iron fist

LOL, not an iron fist, but a COPPER fist Your post above about what should be on the road show is spot on Dan. I'd be happy to get something started with a set of speaker cables and 2 sets of analog IC's. Maybe later we will do a power cable one. Tony, if you'd like to try out a Bi-wire set of speaker cables, I'm sure that can be arranged

Thanks Doug, yeah, the bi-wire would be up my alley but please don't feel like you have to. As I said, do whatever you feel good about. I'll wait until you guys put it together in a thread and we'll go from there. I didn't know you had other road shows.....did you have one at Polk ? If so, don't know how I missed it.

Tony, Let me check and see if I have a bi-wire pair made up. If I do, I'll send them to you to demo. What length do you need? I'll also send you a couple of pair of IC's to check out. I'll PM you.
No, did not have a road show at Club Polk. Just sent some cables to some of the members on there. Had one at yardcrap.com, Carveraudio.com and Carversite.com.

Doug, I'm probably going to be placing an order with you next year. I have an order in which I'd like to do things and I am currently trying to find acoustic panels. I hoping to find some used or make my own. Then next year I want to do a speaker cable upgrade. I'm currently using some Belkin PureAV cables I bought from DSkip which was an improvement over my clear coats. I shop on Craigslist a lot so there is always hope that I'll find a treasure on there. Your prices and reputation seem hard to beat. I'm thinking of going with your Custom Made Furez 9 AWG OFHC Speaker Cables. What I am unsure about is what type of bananas to put on the ends. I'm not really knowledgeable enough to make a decision. I'm also looking to have matching jumpers made with spades. I'm wanting something that I'll use for the rest of my life and with so many people singing your praises, I see no need for me to demo your cables. That many people can't be wrong. Since my system isn't a dedicated two channel rig, would you recommend getting a matching cable for my center channel or would I not hear a difference with a HT application? I'm not ruling out a dedicated two channel system one day if I can find the space to put it. My current system and cables are as follows: Pioneer Elite SC-05 AVR Pioneer BDP-51FD (Dynamat & Pangea AC-14 Cable) Monster PowerCenter HTS 5000 Polk: RTi8 Towers, CSi3 Center Channel, F/Xi3 Bi-Directional Surrounds Polk Subs: PSW125 12-inch & PSW303 8-inch Belkin AV53001 PureAV Speaker Cables / Currently using 16g clear coats for surrounds AudioQuest Chocolate HDMI Cable (used between the AVR and Blu-ray player) Monster M-Series M850 SW for subwoofers Monster Ultra 1000 Toslink FO for Dish receiver to AVR The system is either used for Blu-ray, Dish Network, Music CDs, and also MP3s. Let me explain the reason for MP3 listening. I'm lucky to have an awesome local library that has a huge A/V department with thousands of DVDs and Music CDs. Early this year they struck a deal with Freegalmusic.com so they are no longer purchasing CDs. I'm allowed to download a certain number of MP3s per week which are mine to keep forever. I know MP3s aren't the preferred way to listen to music on home systems, but I would be a fool not to take advantage of free music that is available to me. I play them off a thumbdrive via the front port on my AVR. Thanks for the faith in our products. The 9AWG cables are a very good choice, and I can make you jumpers with the same wire. On the center channel, yes, I'd suggest the same cable as the L/R speakers. I'm running the 9AWG cable between the Sunfire 400/5 and the Polk SRS2's. The center is a Polk CSIA6 and the same cable is there too. The center is a very important speaker in your HT system and IMHO it really needs the same wire for synergy. On your surrounds, you might want to think about upgrading the wire to a 14AWG cable. With the longer runs for surrounds, it could be a good improvement. On the banana connectors, my choice, and best bang for the buck, would be our Furez TST series copper connectors. They are available in either plated or non plated versions, and two styles, either set screw or crimp on. Our testing has shown the crimp on to be just a bit better sounding. Take a look at our banana connectors here and let me know if you have any questions. My choice for the main and center speakers, if I were making these cables for myself, would be the TST WP48XL bananas in either the non plated or silver plated versions. Please let me know if you have any questions.

I have 2 pair of these speaker cables bi-amping a pair of custom modified Carver AL-III speakers & a third cable running a Sunfire CRS-3C center channel. These are WITHOUT DOUBT the best I've ever tried on my system. Buy from Doug with complete confidence both in his products & his honesty & integrity. I can't say enough good things about him!

Another reason a demo would serve no purpose for me is I have nothing to compare them to. I've don't own any higher end cables. I do have a question about bananas/spades. When using a non-gold plated metal, what prevents it from corroding or tarnishing? I was told that sealed cables are better than clear coats because it prevents air from reaching the copper strands. Anyone is welcome to chime in on this. I know silver is a better conductor than copper, but doesn't it start to tarnish instantly? Or are you supposed to clean the connections annually? Forgive my ignorance. Five months ago I didn't know cable choices were that important. At the time, I thought cables were the least expensive part of the puzzle. Actually, silver has the ONLY oxidation that conducts about as well as the metal itself. I suggest cleaning all contacts on at least an annual basis with Caig DeOxit in pure form. That said, Doug has a pretty good system for ensuring his cables are resistance to oxidation. The only thing to clean is the contact on each end (banana or spade).

Would your choice be the silver plated copper connections? On the copper non plated connectors, if you are willing to clean them at least once per year, then treat them with deoxit gold, they will do a great job for you. On the silver plated versions, as Gary said, silver tarnish is pretty much as conductive as the silver itself. With any connections, yearly cleaning is a good thing though.

I chose the copper connectors as I was most impressed by soundstage with the cables I auditioned with them over the silver ones.

Thank you both for the info. You'll have to forgive my sometimes "elementary" questions. I was introduced to this hobby over the summer by joining Club Polk. I know I don't have the best setup for music. I'm using an AVR rather than a dedicated two channel, I'm not using an external amp, and I know there are higher end speakers and subs. I originally planned on using it for 75% movies, but am using it for music much more than I ever though I would. I want what I have to be the best it can be, WITHIN REASON. Going out and dropping thousands of $$ on cables just isn't an option. I've tried to make a nice system for myself as cheaply as possible from the used market. Acoustic panels and cables are my next investment. As much as I love Polk speakers, I'm not pleased with their subs I own. So that will probably be the third thing I upgrade. Doug, what I might do is go ahead and have jumpers made before the actual cables to sort of soften the economical blow. I replaced my jumpers with generic clear coats/no connectors, so your jumpers would be a nice improvement. I too have not really been as pleased with the Polk subs I've owned as I am with the Sunfire Signature I have now. Of course the price on the Sunfire is quite a bit more than what I paid for either of the Polks I've owned. Just let me know when you are ready for the Jumpers. We can make you a set with whatever connectors you choose. As an AudioMalitia member, you will get a 10% discount on them, and on your speaker cables when you are ready for them.
