My Towers have them and it seems pointless, especially when a pair when and if blown will set me back close to 3 bones 🤪

On speakers that have them, my opinion they seem to open up the stage presence.

Dipoles, usually best for surround speakers.
They were real popular when Dolby 5.1 didn't have discreet rear surrounds. They helped in adding movement across the back stage in an HT by using reflections from the rear speakers to creat a timing depth which added some "realism" to the rear stage.
They weren't so popular when 5.1 got discreet rears. But with 6.1, the rears being dipole had benefit again.
Now, with Atmos out, you're seeing surrounds that look like dipoles but are really discrete drivers in the same cabinet 'cause Atmos can have as many as 24 discrete locations.

The speakers sound Amazing either way but I think my dumb ass did blow em! Parts express is in my backyard but not ready to drop close To 140 bucks a pop just yet 🤪
