Anyone have a favorite SS pre ? Something on the warm side but not muddy sounding ? New or old, doesn't matter.
Some HT processors of old, outdated, make great 2 channel SS pre's with a decent dac in them to boot. B&k-Anthem-Cary processors come to mind. Whats some stellar SS pre's that have crossed your ears ?

Nobody ??
Wow....go get your ears on any old Proceed AVP's. You might stick your Dareds in the closet. Not only were they over built, but they also had fantastic dacs in them.

Tony, I've had a Sunfire Theater Grand Pre II cross my path and it was decent, but it had to many HT functions, so I moved it along.
Right now I'm rolling with a DIY Pass kit thats quite good, but still needs some additional mods to it done like adding remote volume capability.
My Integra's decent, but its for HT mostly and it doesnt allow you to use DAC's at all with it, so not a huge fan of it for purely music...
I almost snagged that passive unit you posted in the Misc deals thread on that other place, back a few months ago, but let it go.

What do you mean you can't use a dac with the integra ? Analog outs of a dac to the ins on any input with the Integra. Or digital inputs if you want to use the built in dac.

According to Dan (mantis) any signal coming into the Integra gets converted to Digital, run through their DAC and then output.... Hence putting a DAC before it being pointless....... In practice you can connect things up easy, but like I said due to how Integra handles analog inputs its actually MOOT.

So far, I have been happy with the Sunfire Symphonic Reference I got from John. Aesthetically, it is sort of rough but acoustically, I have been very happy. I think though that an ARC tube pre will be my next 2 channel pre...maybe...

So your telling me the Integra doesn't have a analog bypass setting...where it just sends the analog signal threw untouched ? Shit man, most entry level receivers do that.
