Someone once told me, get some vintage Polks...and see where the company came from, so I went n picked up a pair of Monitor/Model 5 Polks with Peerless Tweeters, they sound amazing for what they are and to be honest when connected to modern power (Harman Kardon HK 3375). I do plan on upgrading the crossover stuff with better caps and resistors, also going to JB Weld or something the MWs and the dynamat treatment to the PRs as I've pulled one MW out and they are literally bone stock. Finally a speaker I can go mod crazy on...feels like a first step into a fun land.

My fav of the early Monitor series are the 7B'S. Hook any of the early monitors up to vintage electronics like Marantz, Sansui, even Yamaha. That's a sound you can enjoy no matter what.

Tony, these things sound so nice, currently looking for a vintage receiver of sort for them, even right now attached to the HK 3375 they sound quite nice, I needed something nice and old to get ears on and these fit the bill nicely.

Have the 5Bs out in living room, while doing some work in the kitchen. The kitchen is attached with open-floor plan. They fill the room nicely, but they need to be as close to wall to feel the bass from other side of the rooms. I'm still working on the 8TLs here and there so I'm not going to build stands for these, but the long wall cabinet does the trick being 6ft wide.

Those are TRULY one of a kind! Do the phase plugs result in any appreciably longer *leak down time* when doing the push test on the passive for air seal?

Adding the phase plugs didn't increase nor decrease the PR push-test time from what I observed. The dust caps that were removed were highly porous open-weave. It was swapping to the new-seal design of the billet tweeter plates that got rid of all air-leakage, increasing PR push test holding time.
