Actually...in full stack mode...sounds a touch better...don't know why but the image is up a bit...a bit more definition. That or I'm on crack.
Let the flaming begin cuz I kinda like the sound, it's different, a touch brighter but not hot. mids are a bit better balanced with the low end. again, flame all ya want.

Your on crack.
The "wall of sound" is best left to high schoolers. What your finding is you may like the bookies better than the 7's. What your hearing is the differences between the 2 speakers....if you can determine that in a wall of sound. As far as sounding good....can't imagine that happening even with your ears. Different yes....good..nope.

This past couple months looks like I'm 2 for 2. You on the Parasound and JAHAYMAN on a McCormack gear. Both you guys are crapin' your shorts so I guess that's a good thing. Now, who wants to be my next victim ? im down tony, you and the guy's at CP talked me into ordering this same amp, which will be paired with the same pre, and i plan to order rti towers, so hopefully i can find someting very similar to browser has found.

So you bought the Parasound amp then ? Don't forget a couple nice interconnect cables to hook it up. Please don't say monoprice either, you'd be doing yourself a disservice.

nope, monster for dure, lol, i have months before i will be using it, and dont know what my room there will look like as far as set-up goes, might use the ethereals i got from a4l, is i need 13' ICs, lol. for now, i only have the ethereals for decent ones, a mediabridge from amazon(seems to be on par with th cheaper monoprice in build, decent looking, and better than the cheapo cables i had before)6 1M monster component vid cables(bought two packs of 3 for 2.96 each, instead of the 30 they were originally) they work for now, hooking up my sub, and as amp ICs in a friends car)IC's will be on my list when it gets closer to time to leave

Well...some investigating as to why there was more life in the A3/A7 together than with the A7 on it's own...and yes, this is prime time to blame the girlfriend...on the thursday before I got the amp...she was playing the living room stereo...so I ask her how loud she had it...+15 on the receiver for a couple of hours, so I did some A/B this eve. Then broke out the screwdriver kit and implanted A3 tweets into A7s. Yep, blown. Call to Polk in the AM to purchase replacements.

LOL I'll leave the tweets from the A3s in the A7s for now...same part numbers so no worries there. Sent Polk an email already inquiring about replacement cost. She can pay that bill...trust me.

Ok...dude, you should have had that conversation long time ago about limits on the volume dial. Tell her below -10 unless your around to supervise. Depending on the type of music played, and listening for signs of stress wil determine where you go from there.

So I wasn't on crack...it sounded better with the A3s in the mix...for a real good reason...We had the talk...-20 MAXIMUM, A3, A7 or combo, only I can exceed that number...since I do have a lot of music that isn't as shall we say, loud as others.

Well...being truthful to Polk about why they blew and asking for a price for replacements. They are covering the blown tweeters under warranty. I'm impressed!

Don't tell the girlfriend. I won't...lol but just surprised me when the guy said this will be covered, wasn't expecting it nor asking to invoke the warranty. Not going to complain either. Just wait for a box with new tweeters to arrive and install them into the A3's and keep the broken in ones originally from the A3's in the A7's...sounds right as they are now. Also mount the blown ones to the 2x4 under the TV as a reminder what can happen when one pushes the volume too much...

Why do you need 13 ft of IC's ? Bought them to use for subs, didnt know where or how they'd be set up, so i got some flexibility, and they work nice for cdps that are half way across teh room from the avr.

You don't have room to put a receiver and cdp together ? But you have room for subs ? Not making much sense bro ?

i have a sub here, and a small but growing stockpile of stereo equiptment back home, wwhich includes, 2 psw 505's, the parasound, an hk 4390, monitor 30's, def-tech pro-monitor 800's, sbpolks' rph 1010 sub is en-route, and will probably order a pair of rti10 or 12's off the ebay store in the near-ish future. here, i have a csi3, a pair of rti-4's, a psw 110, a pair of m10's, the avr, the pio 6 disc cdp, a sony 5 disc dvd player for a cdp, my pc, a 360, and a ps3.

So you go to a hardware store, buy a couple square pieces of granite tile and lay them on the floor next to the avr, put your cdp and dvd player on top. Long IC's are not beneficial to 2 channel listening. If you have some landscaping 12 by 12 bricks, that would work too.

Now we wait, see how long it takes for Polk to send out a package...and where it comes from, Ontario Canada, California or Baltimore...

Just finally got around to reading this thread. Parasound does make some nice sounding gear. I went from an Adcom GFA-555 to a Parasound HCA 1000a and you could not get me to go back. The Adcom was nice and had more bass output(I like a little more bass also), but the quality, speed, detail and smoothness of the Parasound more than makes up for it, not to mention the additional sound stage depth as well as placement. I have used my Parasound with a Denon receiver, A Scott tube preamp, and a B&K preamp. A dedicated pre is the way to go. The Scott gave me a slightly more open sound stage, that was quite airy, while the B&K is more revealing and accurate I would say more neutral, I am using it in passive mode, though I hear no degradation using it in active or powered mode. HK does make some nice gear so I don't know how much of an upgrade a dedicated pre would make for you. When I got my Adcom I wet myself, and the Parasound made me shit my pants. A pre amp can make your sound stage be more cohesive and add that last bit of detail. When I jumped up to a preamp, be it the GFP-555 or the B&K pro 10mc I found the sound stage had better placement as in the instrument and voice locations were more pin point as well as the other things mentioned above. A dedicated pre will also have the advantage of not sharing it's power supply with everything else in it like your HK.
Have fun.....

Well I'm gonna somewhat necro this thread, it's been damn close to a year of BLISS with the amp in the mix and all I can say is it's just blowin my hair back each and every time I use it. Coming soon to this forum only, a complete system review, not just bit and piece, but a whole system review, do it right cause well it just works.
