Anyone have 'em, heard them ?
I'm still holding on to my Focus 20/20's, simply love what they do with anything you can throw at it. Everyone keeps telling me the newer HD versions are better, but I'm wanting to get an ear on that Arias.....I think that's how you spell it. Gorgeous looking speaker. Used right now, these are bargains. I was lucky enough to find a store demo pair about 7- 8 years ago for 4 g's delivered to my door. Now, I'm guessing 3 g's or less can land you fantastic speakers on the used market.
I try and get out, get an ear on as much as I can. Still, haven't heard anything yet that can handle the range of music the big Legacys can. Some may outshine it in one area or another, but fall to it in another. Some others do well with only certain genres of music, the Legacys do well with them all. Everyone has their own cup of tea when it comes to speakers, I think I found mine in the Legacy brand. I'm a big speaker kinda guy, love that forceful smack you down, blow your girls clothes off kinda sound, but with air and articulation around the notes. If that makes any sense.

www.legacyaudio.com/Check out their home page. I'd love to check out their subs, centers and surrounds. Unfortunately that requires used car kinda coin. Always have an eye out on the used market but these suckers hardly ever come up. Focus SE's or the Aires with a Marquis center and Phantom surrounds....with that big ass subwoofer they have. That's my dream system.

I'm a big speaker fan too. They do things that bookies aren't physically capable of. What's that saying, there's no replacement for displacement!

I have the exact same ones, same finish. Love 'em too. I don't think I could ever part with them. If your looking for a speaker to do double duty, HT/2 channel, this is it. That finish btw was a 500 buck extra at the time.

They are nice looking that for sure. I am not planning on making a change yet but one day I will sell my SF and try out something else.

Considering a pair of Legacy Focus SE, anyone own these? Thoughts/Opinions MOST welcome... The Areis have appeal, love the look, reviews.
BTW, love my SDA's but at a crossroad it seems.

If I did, I'd be humping them every night bro. Trust me, you'll like them if they sound anything like the 20/20s, which they are suppose to be better.

The Legacy's are simply better imho. I came from the king of SDA's, the SRT's and the Focus was noticeably better. Don't get me wrong either, I love SDA's and they hold up well even today but there is life after SDA's gents. Polk is full of members that have moved on.

I honestly find my older 2.3 TL's more satisfying in every way to listen to for both music and HT. I sold the SRT's and kept the 2.3's. I totally get that it's about what you enjoy listening to. No problem with moving on. Just curious what you like about where you've gone vs. where you've been.

Just kicking arount the idea on something different. SDA's are workign fine, all original and someday I will get them modified. However, I really like to the look of the Legacy speakers, technical data is a bit past me but its all good. Better news is Legacy has a showroom about 150+/- miles from me and plan to take a day and go visit.

I have family there as well so room would be cheap, unless I wanted to get a hotel room. And since its Chicago the wife could go shopping on the Magnificent Mile while I hung out at the show....

Dan, I'm NW of downtown about 1.5 hours, may not be optional if you have time constraints. Still, anyone in the area is more than welcome to drop by for a listen. If I like you, I may even throw a steak on the grill. If I don't....you get spam.

A few miles south of Purdue University out in the country. would love to hear some legacy's in an non sales/showroom setup. I probably missed it earlier somewhere but what type of amplification are you using on your Legacy's?

Using a Butler tb2250, a hybrid tube/ss amp. Google it or look it up at Butler audio. Sweet amp too, very musical, lots of balls, another bridging that gap piece.

However, I really like to the look of the Legacy speakers, technical data is a bit past me but its all good. Better news is Legacy has a showroom about 150+/- miles from me and plan to take a day and go visit. What I like about where I've gone ? Probably the best summation I can think of is I've focused more so on music than HT. Home theatre is fairly easy to get good movie sound and the SRT's were king in that department. My system then, consisted of SRT fronts and center, 3000p's as rears, fx1000's....cinepro 3k amp. Tuff to beat that on HT, however musically I found them lacking as you probably did. You know my saying....right tool, right job. The SRT's were the right tool for HT, but I found myself watching less and less movies, and listening to more and more music. I've also had the lesser SDA's and found them very satisfying, but not detailed enough in their sound.....notes seemed a tad rounded to me. Could I have redone the crossovers and been happy ? Most likely, but I believe in trying different gear to get a better perspective. The right tool for the right job for me then had to do HT and music well, not just one or the other. Had to be living room presentable, work well with all genres of music, throw a wide sound and have enough low end to forgo a subwoofer. Never have had much luck with subs, integrating them on HT...easy as pie, music not so much. They always sounded good on one song but not another. When I'd shoot for the middle ground then I wasn't happy with the overall sound. Subs have come along way today, so who knows....I may give it a shot again down the road. So I figured I would just add that cost of the subwoofer to the towers I wanted as that would afford a better uptick in speakers. All that said, I chose the Focus 20/20's based on reviews from all over. Obviously not everyones cup of tea but sure seemed like a helluva lot of people enjoyed them and couldn't find one bad or mediocre professional review. Needless to say, I couldn't be happier with them. The 2 Legacys upfront with nothing else blew away all my previous 7 speakers I had mentioned above for music. And that was driving them with just a B&K 307 avr. So I searched for an amp, knew I wanted some tube flavor and the Butler TB2250 fit that bill nicely. Still have some Polk fx500's doing surround duty but no sub or center. The Legacys anchor those vocals into the middle of the screen well and certainly don't lack in the lower regions with 3 12 inch woofers in each. Bill at Legact describes them as a satellite and subwoofer in one. On the surface that statement screams...that can't sound good. But he has done a great job bringing the two together. Matter of fact, Bill used to offer as a surround the top portion of the Focus speaker, wish I would have bought them before. His Phantom surrounds look gorgeous though too. Heck, everything they make looks gorgeous and gardners great reviews. Take a look at his soundbar even. Still, I have to get a dedicated pre amp as this receiver I have now isn't cutting it for music anymore for me. It's not bad, but I know better.....I've heard better....and I want it. LOL

Things have certainly changed since that last post.
In retrospect....wish I never gave up the Legacy's or Butler amp...or the Joule. That stimulus money is going towards medical bills and I could have kept my shit. Oh well...

I've seen these for sale from time to time on Craigslist. Must be a local dealer. Look high end, but are these from the same manufacturer that made the early 90's swap-meet car audio speakers?

If I had to get rid of my highly modified Polk SRS2.3tl's I'd want to go to Legacy Speakers. Bill D. is a great guy and builds fantastic speakers. Some of his gear that has badged the Legacy name has been stellar gear as well. I've lusted for a set of Whispers forever,

If and when I decide to move on from my 2.3TLs, the Legacy Focus line is very high on my list. I have heard then a few times and they have never disappointed. I ma still kicking myself for not getting TonyB's speakers when he had them up for sale a few years back.

Kinda disappointed they didn't stay in the Polk family. Would have much rather sold them to you than the knucklehead that bought them.
